Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 July 2026
This policy explains what happens to your data when you use passivevoicefixer.com. The short version: your text is analyzed in your own browser and is never transmitted to us. We run no analytics, set no cookies, and require no account. The only way any text ever leaves your browser is the optional, off-by-default AI mode — and then only to your own AI provider account (see section 3).

2. The checker runs locally
The passive-voice analysis (English and German) is performed entirely by JavaScript running in your browser. The text you paste or type is not uploaded, logged, or stored on any server of ours. There is no server-side processing of your content.
For your convenience, your current draft is kept in your browser's local storage on your device, so it's still there when you return. It never leaves your device; press Clear in the tool to delete it. Local storage is not a cookie and is not readable by us or by third parties.
3. Optional AI rewrite mode (bring your own key)
The tool offers an optional AI rewrite feature. It is off by default and only works if you enter your own API key for a supported provider (Anthropic or OpenAI):
- Your API key is stored only in your browser's local storage. It is never transmitted to us — we operate no server that could receive it.
- When you click “AI rewrite” on a finding, the affected sentence (with a little surrounding context) is sent directly from your browser to the provider you chose, using your key. The provider processes it under their privacy terms (see the privacy policies of Anthropic or OpenAI, as applicable) and bills your account.
- We receive nothing: no key, no text, no metadata. Removing the key (“Remove key”) deletes it from your browser.
Legal basis for this processing: your deliberate action in configuring and invoking the feature (Art. 6(1)(a)/(b) GDPR). If you do not use the AI mode, no text ever leaves your browser.
4. Cookies and tracking
We set no cookies and use no analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Fonts are served from our own domain — no third-party font or CDN requests are made by the site itself.
5. Server log files
Our hosting provider — ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich (Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany), acting as our processor under Art. 28 GDPR — automatically records technical access data when pages and assets are requested: IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer, browser identification, and response status. This is standard for virtually every website and is required to deliver the site securely and to detect abuse.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure, reliable operation). Log files are automatically deleted by the provider within the retention window of the hosting package (typically a few weeks) and are not merged with other data.
6. Contact by email
If you email us, we process your address and message content to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). Emails are kept as long as needed to handle the matter and statutory retention duties, then deleted.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; for Bavaria this is the BayLDA (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, Ansbach).
Since we hold no account data and never receive your texts, most requests will concern email correspondence — write to contact@passivevoicefixer.com.
8. Changes
We'll update this policy if the site's functionality changes. The date above reflects the latest revision (AI rewrite mode added July 2026).
