Terms of Use
Last updated: 18 July 2026
1. Scope
These terms govern the use of passivevoicefixer.com (“the Service”), operated by Thorsten Meyer, Blombergstrasse 11 C, 82393 Iffeldorf, Germany. By using the Service you accept these terms.
2. The Service
The Service is a free, browser-based writing aid that highlights likely passive-voice constructions (English, and German in Beta) and suggests rewrites. Analysis happens locally in your browser; no content is transmitted to us. The Service is provided without registration and without charge.
3. Optional AI mode (your key, your provider, your costs)
If you enable the AI rewrite mode, you do so with your own API key. Requests go directly from your browser to your chosen provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) under your contract with that provider; all usage costs are billed to your provider account. We are not a party to that contract, receive no data from those requests, and accept no liability for the provider's availability, pricing, or output. Keep your API key confidential; you can remove it from your browser at any time.
4. No guarantee of results
Language analysis is heuristic and AI output is probabilistic. The Service may miss passive constructions, flag non-passive ones, or suggest rewrites (rule-based or AI-generated) that need human adjustment. Suggestions are drafting aids, not professional editing, legal, or academic advice. You remain responsible for the texts you publish. See also the Disclaimer.
5. Availability
We aim for high availability but do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or parts of it) at any time.
6. Acceptable use
You may not misuse the Service, attempt to disrupt it, or scrape/replicate it in an automated way that burdens the infrastructure. The Service's code, design, and content are protected by copyright; personal and commercial use of the tool for checking your own texts is expressly welcome.
7. Your content
Because your texts are processed on your device (or, in AI mode, by your own provider), we acquire no rights to them and take no custody of them. What you write stays yours.
8. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and under mandatory statutory provisions. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential contractual duties (cardinal duties), limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of free service. The Service is provided free of charge; to the extent permitted by law, liability for its results is excluded.
9. Governing law
German law applies. If you are a merchant, legal entity under public law, or special fund under public law, the place of jurisdiction is the seat of the operator.
10. Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms with effect for the future. The current version is always published on this page with its revision date.
